Essential Oils Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop therapy is a procedure for applying essential oils to the back, spine and feet. It is a form of aromatherapy. This procedure includes a special form of massage called “feather stroking” which is similar to a massage technique called “effleurage.” During the the Raindrop therapy, essential oils are dropped on the back along the spine from a height of about six inches. The procedure also includes “Vita Flex,” a therapeutic maneuver adapted from Oriental acupuncture, acupressure and reflexology. This term, “Vita Flex” means “vitality through the reflexes.”
The theory of dropping oils in this manner is that the oils, which are said to possess electromagnetic properties, are allowed to fall through the electro magnetic field of the receiver before touching the skin. Thus, the oils are thought to interact with the receiver’s electric fields in a possibly beneficial way before being absorbed by the body through the skin. The electrical nature of the Vita flex maneuver is also thought to assist in the body’s absorption and utilization of essential oils.
What is a session like?
A typical Raindrop procedure takes about one hour to perform during which seven single essential oils and three blends of essential oils are applied neat (without dillution) to the skin. Following the application of the oils, a warm damp towel (layered between two dry towels is placed on the receiver’s back for 5-10 minutes as they rest. This is usually done on a massage table, although it can also be performed in a seated position in a chair.
